Carnival of the Creators #10

Welcome! I'm happy to be hosting the tenth Carnival of the Creators right here at Grackle Stew Studio in very hot central Texas. Carnival of the Creators is a monthly collection of links to blog posts about creative people and their work. You can find the previous edition here at Jane Tomlinson's blog.

There are a lot of great artists blogging out there; these are just a few examples of the amazing creativity and artwork you'll find on the web.

First of all, my friend Cyndi at Mazel Tov Jewelry has a new tutorial for jewelrymakers on her blog. Look for Cyndi's jewelry on the July/August cover of Jewelry Crafts Magazine!

Paul Dorrell is a novelist, and a gallery owner, and the author of Living the Artist's Life. In his Friday tips for Artists blog entry, he talks about how being part of an art gang or group is so important. Read it here.

Luann Udell makes wonderful fiber art wall hangings and jewelry from polymer clay. In this blog entry, she discusses the Artist's Statement and gives some great tips on writing a good one. In her opinion, a statement should be "something that resonates with buyers, and should create a shared experience."

Jane Tomlinson in west Oxfordshire shows step-by-step how she composed and painted her gorgeous new "River Song" painting at her blog.

Susan Reynolds, in her "Case Notes from the Artsy Asylum" talks about how she's a Certified Ephemera Collector.

Rebecca Lesiak is an artist, illustrator and freelance designer. In her blog, she talks about how she made a paper quilt out of security envelopes she collected.

I just discovered the blog of artist Chris Stain, who tackles subjects such as poverty in his artwork. In his blog, he says, "My work is a direct reflection of the people, neighborhoods and struggles that are swept along with the everyday lives of the common American. It is my hope that through the work I will be able to convey the importance of the role of the less recognized individual in our society." Powerful stuff!

For next month, make your blog submissions to Derek at blogcarnival@seafoamwoodturning.com.

Happy trails!
